- USB TABLET INSTALLATION
-
- Intuos USB tablets support hot-plugging, which allows you
- to connect or disconnect an Intuos USB tablet while your
- computer is turned on. Plug Intuos directly into your
- computer’s USB port or into a powered USB hub.
-
- IMPORTANT! Do not plug Intuos into a USB keyboard or non-
- powered USB hub. Intuos requires a powered USB port.
-
- If your computer is off, turn it on and allow the operating
- system to fully load. The Intuos LED will light, indicating
- that Intuos has been registered as a USB device.
-
- Intuos requires a Macintosh with USB port and Mac OS 8.5
- or greater. If you are using an iMac, be sure to read the
- following requirements before installing Intuos.
-
- * iMAC REQUIREMENTS *
- For the iMac, Intuos requires Mac OS 8.5 or greater and
- Mac OS ROM 1.2.1 or greater. Click the Apple icon and
- select About This Computer… to verify your operating
- system and OS ROM versions. If the Mac OS ROM version
- does not display, or an older Mac OS ROM version is
- displayed, you must install the firmware and OS ROM
- update. If necessary, install Mac OS 8.5 and run the iMac
- Firmware Update located on the Intuos CD in the Apple
- iMac Updates folder. Next, run iMac Update 1.1. Then
- install the tablet driver software.
-
- To install Intuos:
-
- Intuos is working in mouse emulation mode. You should
- be able to use your Intuos Pen on the tablet to move the
- screen cursor.
-
- IMPORTANT: To use the full capabilities of Intuos for
- pressure-sensitive drawing and tracing, you must
- install the tablet software from the Intuos CD.
-
- 1. Disable any virus protection programs and close all
- open applications before installing the software.
-
- 2. Insert the Intuos CD into your computer and double-
- click the Install icon to launch the install program.
- Choose your language option, click OK, and follow the
- prompts.
-
- After restarting your computer, you will be able to use the
- tablet input tool to move the screen cursor in pen mode.
-
- For additional information on installation and
- troubleshooting, refer to the electronic User’s Manual. If
- you have completed the software installation, the User’s
- Manual can be accessed by double-clicking on the User’s
- Manual icon located in the Wacom Tablet folder. When the
- Wacom control panel is open, you can access the User's
- Manual from the control panel Help menu.

- KNOWN ISSUES AND WORKAROUNDS
-
- * GENERAL NOTES *
-
- ADVANCED MAPPING
- With Mac OS 7.5, a system crash will occur when
- modifying Advanced Mapping settings for an ADB tablet
- as follows: If the Tablet Area is set to a portion of the
- tablet and the Aspect is set to Mouse Mode, a system
- crash will occur and the tablet will no longer be seen.
- Restarting the computer will not solve this problem.
- If this happens, zap the P-RAM to reset the ADB bus.
- To zap the P-RAM, hold down the Command, Option, P,
- and R keys while the system boots until you hear the
- Startup Tone three times. The tablet will be found and
- function normally. To avoid this problem, download and
- install the free system upgrade to OS 7.5.5 from
- www.apple.com.
-
-
- CORRECTIONS TO THE USER'S MANUAL
-
- At this time there are no corrections to the User’s Manual.

- take advantage of the capabilities of your Wacom tablet
- and tools -- enabling you to precisely apply and control
- image effects based on the nuance and inflection of your
- hand movements.
-
- To install the PenTools plug-ins, open the PenTools
- folder on the Wacom tablet CD. See the PenTools Readme
